What was frustrating them before?
The current house was old-fashioned, messy, and uncoordinated. They desired that they get a fresh lift but not a total overhaul, and they should not lose touch with a few old things.
What did they want their home/space to feel like?
A renewed, practical, and down-to-earth residence that is welcoming, luxurious, and friendly to family, based on their culture.
Any specific concerns?
Desired a few alterations so as not to disturb family life; keep as much furniture and finishes, but at the same time, needed the space to feel part of, not some messed-up style of design where everything does not match.
Project Scope
Spaces covered:
- Living Room
- Dining Area

- Master Bedroom
- Kids’ Room
Challenges We Faced as a Design Team
-
Had to keep the same old furnishes, finishes, and layout, and to make a fresh appearance.
-
Family occupied and was time-starved, so there was no heavy renovation done.
-
The lighting had to be changed several times.
-
The client desired materials that are non-VOC and eco-friendly.
-
The swing structure was to be redesigned to be cozy and balanced.
-
The initial design that had been created as an outdoor space was abandoned halfway, and the client opted to use a different vendor.
Why Our Design Worked
Specific design decisions that made a big difference were driven by our experience in delivering thoughtful, low-disruption residential transformations—similar to the approach followed by a professional villa interior design company in Dubai that balances functionality, culture, and elegance.
-
Niche wall made of gypsum and semi-circular LED-lit pedestals on which the artifacts and idols are placed.
-
Tamil-style brass swing not only functions but brings a nostalgic touch as well.
-
Earthly colour was balanced with teal and brass.
-
Rattan and frosted glass and warm lighting bar counter with cultural texture.
-
Teal wallpaper, and covered mirror, and storage in the master bedroom.
-
Loft bed Designs in the kids’ room, with an inbuilt desk and storage ability, so that maximum space can be realized.
Most Unexpected or Weird Thing That Happened
The swing design did not pass the first comfort test and needed to be completely redesigned.
The lighting glare on the deity pedestals caused a total change in the lighting strategy.
Stopped with the outdoor design phase; that was transferred to another vendor.
