The Next Chapter is a 5832 sqft villa in Victory Heights, redesigned for a couple in their mid fifties moving from the UK to the UAE and intending to stay. The structure was already sound, so nothing was demolished to make a point.
The work went into lightening the house, warming it and making it easier to move through. Dark tones were kept to a minimum and a pale, airy palette runs from the foyer through the living and dining areas, which is what stops a home this large from feeling like a series of unrelated rooms.
Comfort was treated as a technical requirement rather than a mood. The master bedroom was redesigned around lighting and finish, storage was improved across the plan, and guest bedrooms were kept flexible for visiting family.
The rooms nobody had decided anything about were the interesting part. An office, a gym and a library nook came out of space that already existed, which is where multifunctional planning earns its keep in a villa of this size.

The villa office built to look considered on a video call and quiet enough to actually think in. A rounded oak desk, a cream leather chair, floating shelves with ceramic sculptures and a sage-green daybed hold both jobs without competing.

Our story
A UK couple relocating to the UAE asked for a permanent home rather than a staging post, and their brief was unusually specific about feeling. Warm, modern, light and clutter free, with dark tones minimised throughout. The structure was staying. What they wanted reworked were the finishes that had aged, the storage that was never enough and the rooms that had quietly stopped earning their place.
The master bedroom was to be calm, with mood lighting and better wardrobes. Bathrooms needed modern finishes and improved function. Living and dining had to be rebalanced so the layout invited people in instead of directing traffic past them. Guest bedrooms had to flex for visiting family, and the foyer and television room needed to join the same conversation as everything else.
Underused areas were to become a gym, an office or a library. Anyone commissioning villa interior design at this scale recognises the real request underneath the list. Make a very large house feel like it belongs to two people.
Communication on this project was clear from the start, so the difficulties were practical rather than personal. Some were mechanical. Noise from the air conditioning ducts and recurring voltage fluctuations both needed coordination and resolution during execution, and neither is visible in a photograph. Others were spatial.
The television room had to hold a large U shaped sofa for ten to twelve people, which left very little room for anyone to walk. The dining requirement moved repeatedly, beginning at a twenty seater, then fourteen, then eleven, before settling at ten once the limits of extendable tables and the proportions of the room were properly understood. Each revision reset the layout around it.
The client also preferred single beds throughout, including in the master bedroom, which is not how a master is usually planned and needed custom work to keep the room visually balanced. The master closet arrived as a tight and overwhelming space that had to be redesigned completely. Shared areas carried several functions at once, formal living, dining and a library nook, so zoning had to be exact to avoid clutter. Outdoors, three pergolas each needed furniture in the right proportion.
Euphoria Interiors planned this villa around ergonomics before aesthetics, which is the correct order when a house this size is being designed for two people rather than ten. Circulation was set first, then furniture, then finish. The dining question was resolved by testing the room rather than the wish, and ten seats proved to be the number where the table, the chairs and the space left to walk around them all worked at once.
The master bedroom took the single bed preference literally and solved it with a single curved headboard spanning both beds, walnut panelling above and matching bedside units either side, so the room reads as one composition instead of two beds in a shared space. Brass sconces and a petal chandelier layered the mood lighting the brief asked for. The master closet was redrawn from scratch.
Shared areas were zoned rather than divided, letting formal living, dining and a library nook coexist without visual clutter. The palette stayed pale and warm across the whole house so the foyer, the television room and the bedrooms read as one home. Mechanical issues were dealt with as they surfaced, quietly, before handover.

Rarely, and The Next Chapter is a good example of why. The requirement started at twenty seats, moved to fourteen, then eleven, and settled at ten. Every villa client walks through this arithmetic once the plan is on paper, because a table sized for the once-a-year gathering quietly ruins the other three hundred and sixty-four evenings. Extendable tables promise both and deliver neither. The leaf is heavy to pull, the mechanism dictates the base, the proportions never quite read right in either mode, and most families end up leaving it in one setting anyway. Fixed at ten was the point where the table, the chairs and the circulation around them stopped fighting each other. The oak table now seats visiting family in full and still holds two people at breakfast without the room feeling hollow.
Because the clients asked for them, and comfort at home is not a style question. Single beds across the bedrooms including the master is an unconventional preference, and it creates a real design problem, since a master bedroom is normally composed around one large central object. Two separate beds can easily make a large room look like a guest room or a hotel twin. The solution was to stop treating them as two pieces of furniture. One curved upholstered headboard spans both, walnut panelling runs across the wall above, and matching bedside units sit at either end so the whole arrangement is symmetrical and deliberate. The room reads as a single designed composition. It is a useful reminder that most rules in bedroom design exist to be adapted rather than obeyed.
Give them a job before the house gives them one by default. Every large villa has them, the room that became storage, the lounge nobody sits in, the corner that collects things. Owning that much unused floor area is its own small irritation, since those rooms still have to be cleaned, cooled and walked past every day. At The Next Chapter the underused areas were assessed against how the couple actually intended to live, and the answers were a home office, a gym and a library nook. The library nook is the instructive one, because it did not need a room of its own. It was zoned into a shared area alongside formal living and dining, which is how a villa gains a function without losing a room.
By removing the two things that usually consume the calendar. Nothing was demolished, no civil work was carried out and the structure itself never changed, which removes the longest and dustiest phase of any project. The second saving came from clarity. The design direction was agreed early and held, and the client had a firm preference for light, soothing tones and a non overpowering environment, so the scheme did not spend weeks circling between opposing ideas. What remains is procurement, joinery fabricated offsite and then installation and styling. One honest caveat belongs here. A project run this way inherits the plan as drawn. If a particular room simply does not suit the way you live, new furniture and finishes will lift it a long way, short of fixing it.
The ones you cannot see in a survey, usually. On this project two came up. Neither is an interior design problem in the strict sense, and both are the interior designer's problem in practice, because they surface during execution and they sit between trades. They were coordinated and resolved as part of the project rather than handed back to the owner as somebody else's responsibility. If you are buying or renovating an existing villa in the UAE, it is worth budgeting attention as well as money for this category. Mechanical and electrical faults in an older property are ordinary rather than exceptional.
