I went back to the project briefs, mood boards and visuals behind the bathrooms in our portfolio to understand those choices. At Casa Loca, unused wall height became storage. At The Bold Affair on Dubai Creek and at JLT Serene Haven, Amanda gave a strong pattern a precise boundary and reshaped the bathing area around it.

1. Turn Storage Into Architecture in a Small Kids’ Washroom
The compact kids’ washroom at Casa Loca left little space for a separate cabinet. Placing one beside the vanity or toilet would have narrowed the passage and added another object to an already busy floor plan.
Instead of hiding storage in a cabinet, our design team built a floor-to-ceiling glass display over the toilet with soft lighting, grey tiles, walnut wood and black hardware.
This approach treats height as free real estate and storage as glowing architecture, turning a utility bathroom into something closer to a lounge.
2. Let One Asymmetric Mirror Break the Order
Somewhere among those saved pins you have probably seen a vanity wall following strict geometry: a rectangular basin set into a straight stone counter, flanked by clean cabinet lines. Here that arrangement threatened to make the washroom feel rigid.
To break it, our team introduced an asymmetric black-framed mirror flowing across the cream wall, with soft backlighting tracing its irregular silhouette.
The lesson: when a space is dominated by straight lines, a single fluid organic form is all it takes to break the monotony and give the room a personality.
3. Discipline the Guest Bathroom to Three Core Surfaces
Small bathrooms fail when the material list runs long. Every extra tile, stone or metal finish crowds the room and forces the eye to work harder than it should. The guest bathroom at Ellington House risked exactly that.
Amanda kept the room to three materials, each doing one job. Warm walnut on the tall storage column and floating vanity. Grey veined marble on the wall behind the toilet and inside the shower. White painted plaster on everything else.

4. Carry Timber Between Separate Zones
Pattern behind wet zones ages faster than the tile itself in Dubai. We usually talk clients out of it. Chevron, herringbone, mosaic: they all look tired by the second year of use.
The JLT Serene Haven shower was the exception. Our designers ran a large-scale grey-and-cream chevron up the back wall of the shower stall, framed by grey stone on both sides, contained inside a black-framed glass enclosure with a backlit recessed niche cutting across the middle.
Why it works: pattern behind glass belongs on the driest, most-viewed wall, and only when framed by architecture. Take the frame away and the same pattern reads like a builder’s leftover.
5. Decide What the Vanity Should Reveal
Most double-vanity master bathrooms solve the wrong problem. Everyone worries about matching the sinks. Nobody worries about the horizontal line beneath them, which is what the eye actually reads first.
At the JLT Serene Haven master bathroom, our team ran one continuous wooden shelf across the full width of the frameless mirror, with a warm backlit strip glowing underneath. Twin square white vessel sinks sit on a black stone counter, and two vertical black bulb pendants flank the mirror.
The rule for master bathrooms: symmetrical fixtures matter less than the horizontal line below the mirror. One shelf and one line of light, and the two sinks stop being two objects.
6. Treat the Sauna Ceiling as the Room’s Main Event
A wet-and-dry sauna suite is the hardest room in a Dubai villa to design without it feeling commercial. The client wanted a luxury bathroom, not something that reminded them of a resort.
Amanda’s fix at the Nad Al Sheba Gardens Villa sauna was the ceiling: fibre-optic stars set into warm travertine, cove-lit around the perimeter so the stars glow without any obvious source. Everything else stays honest. Travertine walls, an elevated bench with a mosaic step-up, a backlit recessed shelf for oils.
A starry ceiling is a technical detail, not a decoration. Fibre optics pay back the install cost by making a small enclosed room feel infinite, and everything else can stay calm because the ceiling carries the memory.
7. Reserve the Strongest Stone for the Master Shower
At villa scale, one dramatic slab separates a luxury bathroom from a merely expensive one, at the same cost. Spreading rare material across every surface becomes visually exhausting very quickly.
For the master bathroom at Nad Al Sheba Gardens Villa, we saved the rare stone for the smallest continuous surface: the shower back wall. Deep emerald green marble with copper-toned fissures runs floor to ceiling. Calm grey Pietra-style marble covers the rest of the room, with brass fixtures throughout.
Save your rare stone for the smallest wall the eye will always land on. Everything else stays quiet.
8. Let Travertine Provide the Movement in a Minimalist Bathroom
Single-material bathrooms are the hardest to make interesting. Get the material wrong and you have built a beige box. The client at Nad Al Sheba Gardens Villa asked for exactly this: one material, top to bottom, front to back.
Our team specified travertine, whose natural fissures give the walls rhythm without a second material fighting for attention. One deliberate break, visible through the doorway, is a dark veined marble accent that saves the room from monotony. Brass fixtures and a clear glass vessel sink carry the detail.

9. Design a Master Bathroom Around Its View
Floor-to-ceiling glazing opens the bathroom at The Bold Affair towards Dubai Creek. Instead of treating the outlook as scenery at the edge of the room, our team let it determine the bathing layout.
The oval bathtub turns towards the glass, with the floor-mounted filler placed discreetly beside it. From the tub, the sightline continues across the water instead of ending at an internal wall.
Pale surfaces reflect the daylight, the shower enclosure stays transparent, and the long vanity avoids unnecessary ornament. The window does more than brighten the bathroom. It shapes how the space is experienced.
10. Cast One Material as the Powder Room’s Signature
Powder rooms rely on immediate visual impact. They are the smallest room in the house, so a memorable one means over-investing in a single bold material to carry the whole space.
At the Nad Al Sheba Gardens Villa powder room, our team framed the vanity wall like a stage set. Two full-height veined green marble columns flank a calm grey marble back panel. Warm oak side panels close the frame. Two white ceramic vessel sinks sit on a floating cream stone counter with brass wall-mounted taps.
Powder rooms invite one strong material moment. Green marble columns would be too heavy anywhere else. Here they read as a signature.
11. Keep a Shared Vanity Visually Whole
Wood vanity with white marble is the safest luxury combination in Dubai. It is also why nine out of ten new-build villa bathrooms look identical in photographs. The Next Chapter master bathroom risked exactly that.
Our designers broke the beige fatigue with two clear moves. A black stone counter instead of the standard white above the wooden vanity, and two square white vessel sinks on top instead of the usual undermount. Warm cove lighting sits under the vanity, above the mirror and inside the open shelving on the left.
When you commit to the safe palette, the counter colour and the sink profile are what save the room. Both are cheap changes on a large-budget bathroom.
